Wonder Girls Explain Why They’re Focusing More on Their Asian Promotions

Having made their comeback with their new mini-album, ‘Wonder Party‘, the ladies of the Wonder Girls recently sat down with E-Daily to talk about what inspired them to pursue the musical direction that they did.

The girls began, “We’re a group that does pop music, and I think the positive response we’re receiving now is because we put the focus on creating music that the public can enjoy.”
Their title track, “Like This“, is different in style from their past hits like “Tell Me“, “So Hot“, and “Nobody“, but that’s because the girls reflected back to what made those songs a hit and utilized it to their full potential. What they noticed was that the audience was happiest when enjoying the song directly with the girls on stage.
The girls maintained their position at the top of the charts like Melon and continued driving their popularity forward with their music video, which achieved three million hits in three days on YouTube.

They stated, “It’d be a lie if we said we didn’t care about the songs of other artists but we didn’t release this album thinking that we had to win number one no matter what. We would have been happy if people just enjoyed it, so it’s fortunate that the song was well received. Additionally, it’s so much more comfortable dancing on stage in sneakers.”

‘Wonder World’ is their first release in seven months since their “Be My Baby” promotions last November. Compared to their “2 Different Tears” comeback, which took a year and six months since they crossed over to the States, the gap has gotten considerably shorter.
Not only that, but they’ve also increased their Asian activities. With the girls set to release the Japanese version of “Nobody”, some have begun to wonder whether they’re turning their focus away from America and back to Asia.

When asked about their increased activities in Asia, the girls replied, “Because we had to learn English in the States, the amount of time we spent there grew longer and longer, which meant we didn’t have a lot of time to see our Asian fans. In an effort to show and share more of us, we mutually agreed to increase our activities. We rushed the release of our new song for our first Korean concert in four years on July 7th. Following that will be our Japanese promotions, the JYP Nation concert in August, our tour concert, and finally a new American album.”

On their Korean concert, the Wonder Girls concluded, “There are new song performances that we’ve never performed on TV along with charming solo stages that we’re sure the audience will enjoy right along with us.”

Wonder Girls Featured on Grammy Website!

Back in March, Big Bang found their way onto the Grammy.com website and now the Wonder Girls are now featured. A photo of the group performing “Like This” on the June 12th edition of MBC‘s “Show Champion” was featured on the website.

With Grammy.com paying more attention to K-pop artists, we may stepping closer to the day where we can see our favorite artists on the Grammy stage.

The Wonder Girls will make a comeback in June with a mini album. The Wonder Girls will release a new mini album on June 3rd. After their debut, each of their albums have shown their originality and each of their concept changes were much loved by the entire nation. Many are anticipating what new dance and catchy song the Wonder Girls will bring to their fans this time. Currently the Wonder Girls are putting the finishing touches on their new album. An online entertainment site uploaded footage of the Wonder Girls filming their new music video and it already has fans buzzing about their comeback. Many people participated in the music video and the Wonder Girls were dressed in neon colors. Just this glimpse already shows a new side of themselves and people are wondering what kind of performance they will bring to the stage. Along with their comeback, the Wonder Girls will hold their first solo concert in three years and are preparing for the concert. Their concert is planned for July 7th and it will be a huge festival for their domestic fans. After their first concert the members have upgraded themselves in various ways and fans can look forward to the performance they will bring. A staff member at JYP Entertainment said, “The Wonder Girls members are looking forward to regularly promoting in Korea as well as their upcoming concert. The members are all preparing hard and we hope that everyone truly looks forward to what they will bring. JYP Nation Japan concert on August 18th to be broadcast live

JYP Nation, led by Jin Young Park (JYP) will be broadcast live in Japan. JYP Nation will have its first family Japan concert on August 17th and 18th at the Saitama Super Arena. The concert will feature JOO, 2AM, 2PM, miss A, Lim Jeonghee, San-E, and the Wonder Girls.

It is expected that a massive amount of Japanese fan will be at the concert due to the mass Korean groups performing on a single stage. In addition, this will be 2AM's first concert with JYP Nation as they were not able to participate in the JYP Nation concert in Korea last year.

The Japanese media are also raving on the sibling group 2AM and 2PM sharing the same stage. 2AM are also set to make their Japanese debut in the first half of 2012.

JYP Nation will have a two-day concert in Japan on August 17th and 18th at the Saitama Super Arena. The August 18th concert will be broadcast live on television.

Wonder Girls’ “Nobody” ranks fourth on a Canadian music chart

On March 20th, Nielsen SoundScan’s Canadian C&R music chart revealed that the Wonder Girls‘ “Nobody” ranked fourth place on their singles chart during the second week of March.

The feat is considered special, as it’s been nearly a year and six months since the song was first released. Industry representatives were further impressed by the fact that the only formal promotion done for “Nobody” was through a short U.S. and Canadian tour last year.

Representatives of JYP Entertainment spoke through Star News and commented, “Last year, ‘2 Different Tears‘ did make it into the Canadian charts, but we’re very surprised that ‘Nobody’ has made it in this time as well. It’s been about two years now, so we’re glad that it was achieved without any promotions.”

JYP Entertainment to donate $300,000 USD towards Japanese disaster relief

On March 18th, JYP Entertainment announced that they will be donating $300,000 USD towards relief efforts in Japan through the Korean National Red Cross.
Representatives of JYP Entertainment stated, “Our employees and artists will be praying for the safety of the citizens of Japan. 2PM, 2AM, and our other artists will be bringing together their hearts in order to donate $300,000 USD through the Korean National Red Cross.”
They continued, “Our employees and artists will be supporting the people of Japan so that they do not lose hope and find the strength to overcome and recover.”

On March 11th, Seulong tweeted,
